If we want students to build knowledge, they need to practise thinking *with* facts not just googling them.

Teaching/research thread:
(throughout: some of the many reasons I love vivid *qualitative* research writing.)

Michael Pershan @mpershan

Here's a simplified-but-true take on why good research often doesn't impact teaching:

* teachers usually don't care about evidence
* research often doesn't look like good teaching
* teachers care about things besides learning
* a teacher's own context very well may be different

K-12 CS peeps: Are there survey instruments measuring pre-post motivation/belonging/attitudes experiences of Black and Latinx Ss specifically? Could not find race/ethnicity-specific measures on @CSEdResearch.org. Any pointers will be much appreciated @IdentityInCS @KaporCenter ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
